Smoke Fountain Ganesha

Incense smoke normally goes up. On this it goes down — pouring over the edge and pooling at the base like water running off a rock.

It is not a trick. Backflow cones have a hollow channel through the middle, and the cooled smoke is heavy enough to fall instead of rise. Light one, set it in the well, and Ganesha sits at the top of a slow white waterfall for about fifteen minutes.

• The mandir shelf, where it does the job of a dhoop stand and then some
• Evenings when you want the room to smell of dhoop and have something to watch
