Meenakari Puja Chowki

An idol shouldn't sit flat on the shelf. That's the rule most of us grew up with, and a chowki is how you keep it — a low wooden seat that lifts the murti off the surface and gives it a place of its own.

This one is hand-painted meenakari work on a solid wooden bajot, with short turned legs. Sturdy enough to take a brass idol without rocking, small enough that it doesn't swallow the shelf.

Use it for

• Seating the main idol in your mandir, every day of the year
• Ganesh Chaturthi — the murti sits on the chowki for the whole visarjan period
• Holding the kalash during sthapana, or the thali during a longer puja
• Satyanarayan and havan setups where the deity must be raised

Good to know

• Hand-painted, so the pattern varies slightly piece to piece
• Wooden top with painted inlay — wipe with a dry cloth, don't soak it
• Low profile, so it fits under the arch of a home mandir
• Also works as a stand for a lamp or a small plant if the mandir moves
